The Charlottesville Police Department responded to a reported burglary Tuesday at 9:58 p.m. in the 100 block of Chancellor St., according to a community alert sent early Wednesday morning by Tim Longo, chief of the University Police Department and vice president for security and safety.
Per the alert, the suspect entered the home, took undisclosed items and left in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as a six-foot white male between approximately 40 to 50 years of age with stubble facial hair, wearing a red hat and orange sweatshirt.
This is the second community alert this week — last weekend, CPD responded to reports of indecent exposure near Virginia Ave.
“Community alerts” are shared with the University community when there is sufficient and timely information that can be released to the community without compromising any ongoing investigations. “Timely warnings” are sent when a threat poses an “on-going threat” to the safety of the community.
The general public may opt-in to receive emergency alerts by texting “UVA” to 226787.
