Bomb threat at McLeod Hall cleared within two hours

Police investigated a report of a suspicious package in the building

The U.Va. Emergency Communications Center reported a potential bomb threat around 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at McLeod Hall. Per a statement from University spokesperson Bethanie Glover, the Center received a call regarding a suspicious package in the building. 

Police evacuated the location and conducted a search. No threat was found, and two hours later the incident was cleared. 

Community members were kept updated through emails from the U.Va. Alert system, which is available to all individuals with a valid U.Va. email address. Emergency communications are also tweeted from U.Va. Emergency Management, @UVA_EM, and members of the general public can subscribe to U.Va. Alerts by texting by texting “UVA” to 226787.
