The Charlottesville Police Department received several reports of an individual firing BB-style projectiles Tuesday evening. The incidents occurred both in the vicinity of 1000 West Main Street and at the intersection of Stadium Road and Shamrock Road. According to a community alert sent by Timothy Longo, chief of the University Police Department and vice president for security and safety, an individual reported being struck by a projectile, sustaining minor injuries.
The suspects are described as four to five males wearing ski masks, driving a small dark sedan. Longo said the vehicle fled in an unknown direction of travel.
This is the fourth community alert of April. A similar incident of BB-style projectiles being fired from a vehicle was reported by Longo March 29.
Longo said that anyone with information pertinent to the incident should contact the Charlottesville Police at (434) 970-3280.
Community alerts are shared via email to the University community when there is timely information about a threat that can be released to the community without compromising any ongoing investigations.
