The Charlottesville Police Department responded to a shots fired call early this morning, according to a safety advisory sent by Timothy Longo, chief of the University Police Department and associate vice president for security and safety.
Longo said that the incident occurred between 3:20 a.m. and 3:33 a.m. He said that one victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, but that there is currently no available description of the suspect.
In the advisory, Longo encouraged anybody with information relevant to the incident to contact the CPD at (434) 970-3280.
This is the first safety advisory of October.
Safety advisories are shared via email to the University community when there is timely information about a threat that can be released to the community without compromising any ongoing investigations.
