“Plans To Obtain Phones In Houses At Impasse”

The newly built dorms on Grounds had only two phones for use, despite the fact that 280 students resided in the dorms. Obviously, getting time to use the phone became extremely hard for students and frustrating for faculty. Unfortunately, the University faced several obstacles in bringing more phones to the dorms, and plans for more phone lines weren’t set until spring!

As a fundraiser, Sigma Delta Tau sorority sisters began a “Tuck-In Service” around Grounds. Dressed in pajamas and carrying teddy bears, the girls went door-to-door putting their fellow students to bed (complete with bedtime stories).

“Medieval society displays past pageantry to Charlottesville”

The Society for Creative Anachronism brought the Medieval Ages to Charlottesville via costumes and reenactments. The Society focused on historically accurate representations of medieval life. Members participated in activities ranging from spinning wool to fencing!
