Following a special Board of Visitors meeting Tuesday in which the full Board convened to review the results of an independent review on U.Va. Health, Craig Kent, chief executive officer of U.Va. Health and executive vice president for health affairs, offered his resignation, according to University Spokesperson Bethanie Glover.
According to the email sent to U.Va. Health employees and School of Medicine faculty, University President Jim Ryan accepted Kent’s resignation and offered thanks for his service to the University.
The external review, conducted by Williams and Connolly, was initiated last fall after 128 anonymous U.Va. Physicians Group faculty delivered a no-confidence letter to the Board, alleging misconduct and a culture of fear created by Kent and School of Medicine Dean Melina Kibbe.
Dr. Mitch Rosner, a nephrologist at U.Va. Health, will step in as acting executive vice president for health affairs following Kent’s resignation.
