The University Judiciary Committee elected its next executive committee, with Allison McVey, current vice chair for sanctions and third-year College student, elected as the next chair. The new leadership will take office Tuesday, the start of the 2025-2026 Committee term, and will serve until April 1, 2026.

McVey said she looks forward to leading the UJC alongside devoted students who will further the Committee’s mission.

“The UJC has so many dedicated members who all bring their own unique perspectives and ideas, and internal elections really put that on display,” McVey said in a written statement. “I’m really excited to work with the amazing group that we elected Sunday throughout the next term.”

McVey previously served as the Committee’s First Year Judiciary Committee chair, and she will succeed fourth-year College student Harper Jones who currently serves as UJC Chair.

Third-year College student Ella Abney will serve as the new vice chair for trials. She currently serves as a UJC representative for the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy and as chair of the UJC’s Endowment Committee.

Colin Berry, current senior investigator and third-year Engineering student, will serve as the new vice chair for sanctions.

Zach Davidson, second-year College student, will be the next vice chair for first years. He currently serves as a counselor for the UJC.

Monika Wieliciec, doctoral student in the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, will be the next vice chair for graduate students. She currently serves as a UJC representative for the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.

The UJC also selects Senior Support Officers who hold non-voting member positions within the Executive Committee. The roles include two Senior Counselors, a Senior Investigator, a Senior Educator and a Senior Data Manager and will be finalized by Tuesday.

According to Jones, the incoming Executive Committee will inherit a Committee similar to the one she and her board inherited last year — one that has seen a dramatic uptick in the number of adjudicated cases each semester, with the past term seeing more than 48 cases adjudicated. Jones said she is confident that the newly elected leadership offers a positive outlook for the UJC in its upcoming term.

“I’m incredibly excited to see what each of these individuals do next term. With their shared wealth of experience, they are well-positioned to uphold the Committee’s values of freedom, safety and respect,” Jones said in a written statement. “I hope to see them working to meaningfully expand upon, and learn from, the successes and lessons of this term.”

The next term will begin Tuesday, and the UJC Transition General Body Meeting & Recognition of Graduating Members will be held April 7.
