Kenyon Bonner, vice president and chief student affairs officer, announced that Nicole Hall will step into the role of senior associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students in an email sent to students Wednesday. Hall will begin this role March 24.
Hall will take this position as Cedric Rucker, who was named to the role on an interim basis in 2023, has announced plans to retire. Rucker will remain a special adviser to support Hall in the transition until June 25.
Hall originally started at the University in 2023 as associate vice president for career and professional development. Prior to this role, she served as director of career and professional development at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she also earned a PhD in Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations.
Hall will report to Bonner and will oversee the Hoos First program for first generation and limited-income students and a variety of other programs, including the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, Office of African-American Affairs and the Orientation and Transition program.
The search committee for a candidate to fill this position permanently was chaired by Vice President for Enrollment Stephen Farmer and included two students — first-year Law student Morgan Hughes and Valentina Mendoza Gonzalez, Student Council president and fourth-year College student
