Tate McRae, 21-year old singer, songwriter and dancer, released her third studio album “So Close To What” a week ago. McRae’s sound is undeniably and addictively pure pop, bringing back 2000’s era sounds. The sleek, synth-pop sound combined with her hallmark percussive beats make for distinctively danceable songs, making for an album that is both fun to listen and move to.

Virginia women’s lacrosse dropped their second in as many games, albeit both against ranked opponents. Wednesday’s affair against Navy was initially in the Cavaliers’ favor, but a lackluster second half sunk the ship for Virginia (2-2, 0-1 ACC) in a 12-14 defeat to the Midshipmen (4-1, 0-0 AAC).

Ramadan, a holy month of reflection and prayer, is an annual holiday on the Islamic calendar. This year, the holiday will begin the evening of Feb. 28 and end on March 29. With the help of groups such as the Muslim Student Association and U.Va. Dine, students have worked to create a community where those observing the holiday feel supported, such as through offering dining accommodations and hosting meals to break fast as a group.
Ramadan is here, and University students must once again endeavor to reconcile their academic schedule and their religious one. Ramadan is a time for Muslims worldwide to reflect on themselves by refraining from drinking or eating from sunrise to sundown and prioritizing spirituality over materialism. For students, managing this schedule during classes, extracurricular activities and exams leaves little room for the reflection and community which Ramadan should intrinsically bring. Ultimately, the University must better institutionally support Muslim students by implementing greater academic flexibility, enabling Muslim students to fully observe Ramadan without compromising their education or well-being.
