Becoming a Goliath

The East Region's top seed from a season ago, the Virginia Cavaliers, received the No. 8 national ranking in the USA Today preseason poll released last Thursday.

Volleyball falls in straight sets at No. 21 Duke

The Virginia volleyball team took a 23-22 lead in the third set against Duke Friday night, but it was too little too late as the No. 21 Blue Devils (15-4, 7-1 ACC) secured three straight points to take the set and match (25-14, 25-18, 25-23) for their 10th straight win.

No. 3 Women’s soccer bests Cardinals in first-ever matchup

With the 2014 regular season winding down and engrossed in the ACC stretch run, the third-ranked Virginia women’s soccer team (14-1, 6-1 ACC) traveled to Kentucky for its first-ever matchup with new ACC foe Louisville (6-7-2, 2-3-2 ACC).Coming off back-to-back six-goal performances against Boston College and NC State, the Cavaliers were brimming with confidence as they took on the Cardinals, who have struggled thus far in conference play, winning just two of seven ACC games in their inaugural season.

Brown, Virginia men's soccer prep for Clemson

Virginia is preparing for its next conference test, as it will travel to face Clemson (6-6, 3-2 ACC) on Friday night. While the Cavaliers have not defeated the Tigers since 2010 – they suffered 2-0 defeats in both 2012 and 2013 – Virginia plans on finally breaking the streak this year.

Women's soccer travels for ACC tilt against Louisville

On Sunday, the Cavaliers (13-1, 5-1 ACC) have the opportunity to extend this impressive run when they travel to Louisville (6-6-2, 2-2-2 ACC) in the first matchup between the two squads as well as Virginia’s first-ever trip to the state of Kentucky. While this is a new opponent for the ACC powerhouse, the team is embracing this as just another obstacle to overcome and use as motivation to improve.

Coming off the first of two bye weeks this season, the Virginia football team faces Duke in a major Coastal division battle Saturday in Durham, N.C. The week off arrived at a great time for the Cavaliers, letting players heal and the team prepare heading into the middle of the conference schedule.

No. 4 women's soccer dominates NC State

The fourth-ranked Virginia Cavaliers (13-1, 5-1 ACC) did something very impressive this weekend in their matchup with North Carolina State (2-10-2, 0-6 ACC) as they tallied six goals for the second game in a row in ACC play for the first time since 2008.
