ACC foes topple Cavaliers

The Virginia volleyball team had a tough weekend in Memorial Gymnasium, losing 3-0 Friday against Duke before falling 3-1 Sunday against Wake Forest. The losses ended a three-game winning streak for the Cavaliers (9-10, 3-6 ACC). The Blue Devils (16-3, 8-1 ACC) were knotted with Virginia at 9-9 in the first set Friday but pulled away to earn an 18-10 lead.

Team overcomes red card in win

Another game, another down-to-the-wire finish for the Virginia women's soccer team. The Cavaliers beat the visiting Wake Forest Demon Deacons 2-1, despite playing a man down for more than 70 minutes during the game. Virginia (10-3-1, 4-2-0 ACC) started the game with an unconventional lineup - junior goalkeeper Chantel Jones, ranked second in Virginia history with 30 shutouts, was benched for the first 10 minutes for reasons the coaches said they wished to keep in-house.
