June Hall of Fame class includes Ryan

In her 31st season as the Virginia women's basketball coach, Debbie Ryan has accumulated quite the record: three Final Fours, 21 NCAA Tournament berths, 11 ACC regular-season titles, three ACC Tournament championships and most importantly, a triumph over pancreatic cancer.

Cavaliers record two wins on Tobacco Road The Virginia wrestling team picked up two victories on Tobacco Road Sunday, defeating North Carolina State 30-12 at Riverside High School in Durham and getting a 19-15 win against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Cavaliers (18-4, 3-1 ACC) fell behind the Wolfpack (8-9-1, 1-3 ACC)early, 9-0, but stormed back, winning seven of their final eight contests to take the match.

By Paul Montana Cavalier Daily Senior Associate Editor Few predicted in November that Virginia men's basketball would be where it is at this point in the season. At 1-8 in the ACC and 11-11 overall, Virginia sits firmly in last in the ACC, and with its most recent loss Saturday to Wake Forest, joined Georgia Tech as one of two teams to fall to a .500 overall record. Before the season started, Virginia was picked by the ACC media to finish fifth and by ESPN.com to finish ninth in the conference.

Cavs rebound from Maryland loss to smash Seminoles

The Virginia women's basketball team earned a split of its two games over the weekend, defeating Florida State 77-54 at John Paul Jones Arena Sunday following an 86-80 loss to Maryland Friday. Sunday's victory for the Cavaliers (18-6, 6-2 ACC) came fewer than 48 hours after their emotional loss at Maryland (25-2, 9-1 ACC). Virginia led the fourth-ranked Terrapins 59-51 with 11:25 to play but faltered down the stretch, as the Cavaliers suffered their second straight loss to the Terrapins.

Wake Forest hands Virginia eighth conference defeat

After suffering a 31-point blowout to Clemson Thursday, the Virginia men's basketball team's sluggish play continued in the opening minutes against Wake Forest Saturday, as the Demon Deacons dominated early and never gave up the lead, handing the Cavaliers an 80-64 loss. Though Virginia (11-11, 1-8 ACC) would recover from a 36-27 halftime deficit to cut the lead to as few as 3?

Track and Field sets school, season and personal records

The Virginia men's and women's indoor track and field teams had a productive trip to New York City this weekend, as 14 Cavaliers placed seventh or better in their respective events at the Armory Collegiate Invitational. Notable performances came from senior Kara Scanlin, who won the women's 3000-meter with a personal best time of 9:44.85, and senior Billie Jo Grant, who won the shot put event while setting a new Virginia women's indoor track and field shot put record with a 16.14-meter toss.
