Performance against Deacons could pay off down the stretch

It's always nice to win a series against a quality opponent. However, as Virginia baseball coach Brian O'Connor knows, Sunday's win against Wake Forest might prove to be even more crucial down the line. "It was a critical series win for us because Wake Forest is a team that could be in contention for an at-large bid too at the end of the year," O'Connor said.

Time for Falcons to pick Matt Schaub is now

Since the National Football League opened its free agency period March 11, there have been plenty of winners and losers. Daniel Snyder has been doing his best George Steinbrenner impression and has brought in the likes of Antwaan Randle El, Brandon Lloyd, Andre Carter and Adam Archuleta for the Washington Redskins. I don't care how much it messed up your bracket. Somewhere, deep inside, you were pulling for George Mason to knock off defending champion North Carolina on Sunday. Last year a smiling Roy Williams hoisted the title trophy above his head.

A world of praise for World Baseball Classic

Lost in the Madness of March, lost in the four straight days of continuously bad CBS coverage and -- even worse -- Applebee's commercials, lost in the fact that despite the calendar is entering late March and it's still cold, was the re-emergence of America's pastime -- baseball. The only thing is, America can't claim baseball for itself anymore.
