If anyone knows hard work, it's Virginia wrestler Will Durkee. As one of only four seniors on this year's team, Durkee is tailor-made for a leadership role, as it has been through grit and hard work that he has achieved success in collegiate wrestling.

Swimming and diving teams cruise to victory over Pittsburgh

Both the Virginia men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued their undefeated seasons Saturday, rolling past Pittsburgh 129-106 and 126-106 respectively. Junior Fran Crippen took home three individual event titles, winning the 500-yard freestyle, the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard individual medley.

Champs Sports Bowl snubbed by Virginia

Virginia's acceptance of a bid to the MPC bowl in Boise, Idaho Wednesday spoiled the plans of the Champs Sports Bowl officials, according to the Orlando Sentinel. After resisting initial urges to bypass the ACC and select a school from another conference, Champs Sports Bowl organizers are apparently planning to invite Georgia Tech for their Dec.

Men's lacrosse signs 10 intent letters

University of Virginia coach Dom Starsia announced the signing of 10 athletes to national letters of intent to play lacrosse in Charlottesville next season. The recruiting class is composed of two attackmen, two midfielders, three defenders, one goalie, and two players who can play attack or midfield. Offensive weapon Danny Glading from Bethesda, Md.

The No. 18 Virginia Cavaliers (8-3, 5-3 ACC) officially learned the identity of their bowl opponent yesterday afternoon, and it will be Fresno State, which sports an identical 8-3 record.
