Virginia squashes No. 16 Spiders

The Virginia men's baseball team upset the No. 16 Richmond Spiders, 11-4, in spectacular fashion last night at Davenport field to stay undefeated at home and improve to 18-8 on the season.

Two Virginia swimmershonored by ACC

Virginia swimming nearly swept the ACC swimming awards announced yesterday, garnering five of the six honors. Freshman Fran Crippen earned the titles of ACC Men's Swimmer of the Year and Rookie of the Year -- the first athlete ever to win both awards in the same season.

Cavs drop two straight, fall to Tigers, Jackets over weekend

The gloom of the snowy weather Sunday penetrated the ceiling of the indoor tennis courts at the Boar's Head Inn as the women's tennis team suffered their second loss in as many tries as they fell to the Clemson Tigers, 5-2. Virginia started off the weekend not only confident and prepared, but also with an ITA ranking of 22 -- their highest since 1994.

Cavs win rain-shortened Tar Heel Invitational

The Cavalier softball team came away with the Tar Heel Invitational title by virtue of their two wins Saturday in Chapel Hill, N.C. In the first day of competition, Virginia defeated Hawaii, 8-7, and East Carolina, 5-1.

Women's lacrosse destroys Temple

Virginia gained an easy victory in a 16-6 rout of Temple in Philadelphia Saturday. The Cavaliers dominated throughout, as they held the Owls scoreless for 48 minutes in the middle portion of the game, jumping out to a 16-2 lead.
