WARIO WARE IS ENJOYABLE, IF NOT INVENTIVE

Ever since its release in 2003, Wario Ware has been notable in several ways. In the Wario Ware games, you can play hundreds of mini-games that can often be completed in one move and within seconds.

'The Good, the Bad' and the fairly uninspired

And The Good, the Bad & the Queen was born. The band is comprised of British musical icons Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz), Paul Simonon (The Clash) and Simon Tong (The Verve). Tony Allen, who worked with Fela Kuti, the pioneer of Afro-beat, provides the drumming. The Good, the Bad & the Queen is produced by the deft Danger Mouse, who previously worked with Albarn on the production of the Gorillaz's second album, Demon Days.

OF MONTREAL GOES DARKER ON THEIR LATEST RECORD

Along with the release of their new album Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?, Of Montreal also surprised their listeners with an exceptionally different sound and style. Of Montreal is a band often characterized as indie pop that began in Athens, Georgia under the production of the Elephant 6 recording company.

OFFScreen gets season going with breakthrough 'Shorts'

Sunday night's OFFScreen movie provided a change of pace for the series. The World According to Shorts is an enjoyable and varied collection of short films taken from around the globe over the past few years. The opening film is the comedy La Perra (The Bitch) from Chilean director Hugo Maza.

Lee Hazlewood offers well-crafted farewell

In the 1966 smash-hit "These Boots are Made for Walkin'," Nancy Sinatra charged "You keep samin' when you oughtta be a-changin'." The same could not be said about Lee Hazlewood, the pop auteur who wrote and produced the song.

Damn, it feels good to be a gangsta. Slash editor. We've been at the helm for a year now, and this issue is our last. Thank you, thank you, thank you. tableau has gone through a lot of changes in the past year, and we hope that we have been able to represent in our section those that have affected Charlottesville's A&E scene. Our goals when we first came into power (muah ha ha), were to include more local content and cover a wider variety of interests.

Gomez goes green

Tuesday, Gomez, a band hailing from Northern England, broke from tourmates O.A.R. and headed south to rock a sold-out crowd at Charlottesville's Starr Hill Music Hall. I spoke with drummer/percussionist Olly Peacock about their latest non-compilation LP, How We Operate, the state of the music industry and why, when touring, they must strategically pick their gas stations.
