No. 6 Virginia men’s tennis continued its strong start to the season with a pair of wins at home.
Despite falling short in the final, Collins impressed on the path to competing for the title.
Navarro joins current world No. 50 Danielle Collins — who won NCAA singles titles in 2014 and 2016 — in the record books as she brings home the Cavaliers’ third singles title.

Although it was two different ACC opponents, it was the same story for the hot Cavaliers as they handled business over the weekend.
After a competitive doubles frame, the Cavaliers won their next three singles matches in straight sets on courts one, three and five to seal the match.
It was dominant work for the Cavaliers, winners of three straight, as they played complementary and gritty tennis throughout the match.
This was a big weekend for the Cavaliers as they faced two ranked conference opponents — both of which they defeated by a margin of three.
No. 14 Virginia fell 5-2 against top-ranked ACC foe North Carolina. However, stellar singles performances from freshman Emma Navarro and sophomore Natasha Subhash were bright spots on the day.
Virginia won each match against Boston College in a dominant fashion. The Cavaliers now boast an all-time 20-0 record against the Eagles.
The Cavaliers topped TCU to advance to the semifinals, but then dropped their first match of the season against North Carolina and finished the tournament with a loss to host Illinois in a consolation match.
For the second match in a row, Virginia had to rely on the singles matches to earn a come-from-behind victory against Wake Forest.
Despite losing the doubles point, Virginia rebounded with convincing straight set victories in all six doubles matches to beat Old Dominion 6-1.
