Virginia duels Longwood

The Cavaliers, winners of every one of their six weekend series, draw swords with the Longwood Lancers (12-13, 2-4 Big South) this Thursday at Davenport Field. Whether Irving or Coman starts the game behind the plate, he will enjoy the respect of his fellow backstop.


	Sitting at 4-6 (0-3 ACC) with six games to play in the regular season, senior defender Lauren Goerz and the No. 16 Virginia women’s lacrosse team are in danger of missing the NCAA Tournament. The Cavaliers will look to gain momentum Wednesday night in a home game against Old Dominion.

Women's Lacrosse hosts Old Dominion

Unfortunately for Virginia, a setback Saturday against No. 8 Duke dropped the team back to two games below .500 – a situation where every game is becoming more and more critical. On Wednesday night, the No. 16 Cavaliers (4-6, 0-3 ACC) will again have a chance to get back on track when they face Old Dominion at home (3-6).

Sunday marked the beginning of Honor Week, an education and outreach initiative sponsored by the Honor Committee. With a packed schedule of giveaways, discussions and other events, the Committee hopes to increase student participation in the community and highlight new honor-sponsored programs.

NCAA Tournament: Virginia tames Tigers, reaches Sweet 16

In the final minutes of Virginia’s victory against No. 8 seed Memphis, ‘Sweet 16’ chants filled the stadium. The 78-60 effort earned the top-seeded Cavaliers a trip to Madison Square Garden and the eighth Sweet 16 appearance in program history, and first since 1995.

The incoming University Judiciary Committee selected third-year College student Timothy Kimble as Chair, elected second-year Law student Sam Brickfield as vice-chair for sanctions and selected third-year Batten student Shanice Hardy as vice-chair for trials on Sunday night. The Committee could not fill the vice-chair for first-years position.

Honor Committee elects Chair, Executive Committee

The incoming Honor Committee elected third-year College student Nicholas Hine as its chair on Saturday. The Committee also elected second-year College student Martese Johnson, third-year Commerce student Joe Martin and third-year College students Nick Lee and Henley Hopkinson as vice-chairs. All but Hopkinson ran in contested elections.

Transfer credits affect student success, study finds

This strategy works for some, but only approximately 25% of students who start at a community college make it to the BA in six years. GSAS changes student stipend allocation policy

The Graduate School of Arts & Sciences recently made a decision to alter its financial aid policy, and will now require many students to report any sources of aid they receive from outside the University to their graduate directors.The change reflects an effort to increase the efficiency and the distribution of financial aid to graduate students and to prevent financial losses.
