Serving up help any way they can

For the four seniors of the No. 4 Virginia women’s tennis team, upsetting top-ranked Duke at home, reaching a program-best No. 3 ranking twice and looking ahead to a potentially deep postseason run are just some of the highlights of their final season. As the younger players continue to be the faces of another successful season, these veteran players play a major behind-the-scenes role in helping the team strive in ways not always visible on the court.

No. 14 Virginia dominates VCU, USC, stays perfect

The No. 14 Virginia women’s tennis team continued its strong start to the season, trouncing No. 44 VCU and No. 33 South Carolina in Charlottesville this weekend. Virginia (3-0) easily defeated VCU 6-1 Friday before fighting for a 5-2 victory against the Gamecocks Sunday.

Cavaliers host individual invite

The Virginia women’s tennis team hosts the annual U.Va. Winter Invite tournament this weekend. Select Cavaliers will welcome players from Utah, Tennessee, Marshall and VCU in an individual event that will not count toward the teams’ overall records.

Cavaliers fall in ACC Semifinals

After stumbling out of the gates to a disappointing 3-6 record, the Virginia women’s tennis team dominated in ACC regular season play to finish the season as the nation’s 15th-ranked squad.
