With elections for the major University leadership positions wrapping up, many officers-elect are planning for next year by coordinating fellow students to aid them with organizational and logistical issues. Among these planners are upcoming fourth-year class president, third-year College student Justin Ferira, and upcoming fourth-year vice president, third-year Commerce student Alicia Corbin.
A toned-down "Sex and the City" meets the University tonight at the premiere of this year's new programming for HooTV. The many people who came together to produce one of the newest HooTV shows attempt to bring viewers into the lives of four fictional University students through a new soap series, "Wahoo Sisterhood." The account of the experiences of Riley, Winter, Savannah and Sydney, the main characters of "Sisterhood," is a first for HooTV.
Madison House is home to many community service programs here at the University. There is, however, one program that is virtually unknown. HELPline, a "confidential, anonymous, empathetic, non-directive, non-judgmental listening service," has been a program at Madison House for years, but never has gotten much publicity.
This past weekend, while most University students were sleeping off the effects of a week of classes, the University Sil'hooettes traveled to William and Mary to compete in the quarter-finals of the International Championship of College A Cappella. The girls in black and silver left triumphant, with a quarter-final victory under their belts.
This morning at 9 a.m. sharp, numerous members of the Charlottesville and University communities will be ready and waiting, coffee cup in one hand and bid card in the other, for the start of another University surplus property auction.
