Mother nature is one saucy momma

This is just getting ridiculous. I was leaving the Lawn on Tuesday night and looking around at the bizarre brilliance of the night as light exploded upwards from the unbroken ice.

It was late at night last week, and I was sitting in my friend's Lawn room, talking aimlessly about the world and enjoying the beauty of a warm room in the middle of a cold Charlottesville night.

Thanks for thanking

I love Thanksgiving. There are many things about the holidays that are rough, though. My family holidays are a full-immersion experience, involving late nights of perpetual conversation and overflowing tables of irresistible food, as well as early mornings to watch parades and holiday specials and the like.

Pour some sugar on me

So, Halloween is great. In every way and for all ages. It is an equal-opportunity funployer. Trick-or-treating on the Lawn, as I hope you all know from personal experience, is one of the best of the University's modern traditions.

Remembrance of sleep past

Today is coming close to my favorite day of the year. Saturday is Sept. 23. "Connor," you're no doubt saying, "why the hell are you so fond of September the 23rd?" I'm glad you asked.

So this new Facebook thing is freaking me out. For the eight of you who haven't been on Facebook in the past few days, the Powers that Face have decided, in their inscrutably Olympian wisdom, to install a new feature called "News Feed," which serves as a digest of everything that your friends have done in recent hours.

Home is where the Lawn is

I spent my summer wandering Europe. This was mostly a very good thing. Some guy tried to pickpocket me in London (either that, or he was attempting to feel me up), but the pocket was empty.
