Of the approximately 46,000 people who call Charlottesville home, approximately 3,500 of them are refugees who navigated an intricate system to earn that right.
The firearm discharge was originally brought to the attention of the authorities by the American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia.
“This is not our story,” Charlottesville Police Chief Al Thomas said at a press conference.
