“The Lego Ninjago Movie” strives — but fails — to recreate the magic of previous Lego films.
This surreal fantasy promises depth amid a season cluttered with blockbusters and summer jams.
At a two-hour runtime, “The Great Wall” wastes what seems to be the majority of the film to explain plot points and “develop” characters.
“The Lego Batman Movie” delights with a strong and humorous narrative that explores complex emotions in the guise of a wacky kids movie.
“La La Land,” a modern-day romantic musical, serves as an homage to classic Hollywood and the dreamers seduced by that ideal.
Filled with monsters, time loops and peculiar children, “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” would seem to be another quintessential Tim Burton film — dark, fantastical and fun.
Jam packed with nearly every cliché in the genre, “The Hollars” fails to distinguish itself from its peers.
