Cinematheque emerges as rival to area competitors

Students searching for an alternative to weekend nights on Rugby Road need look no further than the University's student movie theater, which now consistently offers blockbuster entertainment. But the Newcomb Hall Theater was not always able to pay the big bucks to secure movies before they reached the video store. This year, Cinematheque, the University Programs Council committee that runs the Newcomb Hall Theater, fought to increase its ability to provide a safe and entertaining way for students to spend their weekends.

Job scarcity pumps up student anxiety

The job hunt is on. But with an abundance of predators and not enough prey, University students are starting to feel the heat of the jungle. Despite the mayhem, University Career Services is stepping up to provide support to increasingly anxious students. According to Jennifer Hoffman, recruitment manager at UCS, students became used to a rosy job outlook in the past few years. "We have become accustomed to the boom," she said.

CIOs duke it out in appropriations battle

What do the Monroe Society and the Capoeira Club have in common? Well, although one group focuses on the power of persuasion and the other on hand-to-hand combat, both skills will be useful this semester when the two contend for a portion of the approximately $600,000 in Student Activity Fund dollars available to student groups.
