With the NCAA Championships kicking off this weekend from Thursday through Saturday, Virginia’s competing wrestlers are preparing for their last competitive bout of the season.
In the final weekend before the ACC Championships, Virginia wrestling traveled to compete in the U.S. Collegiate Championships Sunday.
In a match that could have gone either way, No. 23 Virginia (1-6, 2-3 ACC) fell to No. 24 Pittsburgh (10-5, 1-3 ACC) by a score of 19-14.
Coming off a very successful last weekend, the Cavaliers (10-5, 2-2 ACC) look to take care of business one more time at home against the Panthers (8-5, 0-3 ACC).
No. 24 Virginia (10-5, 2-2 ACC) had quite a weekend down in North Carolina, defeating No. 25 North Carolina (6-6, 1-3 ACC) Saturday and Duke (4-7, 0-3 ACC) Sunday.
After two tough matches in as many weeks against top 10 opponents No. 5 Virginia Tech and No. 8 NC State, Virginia wrestling has a chance to get back on its feet in ACC play.

Virginia (8-4, 0-1 ACC) has demonstrated steady growth throughout the season, slowly moving up in the rankings before hitting a roadblock in No. 6 Virginia Tech (13-1, 3-0 ACC) last weekend.
