PRESIDENT-ELECT Barack Obama?s Cabinet appointments have been overwhelmingly Clintonian, a move that has made many Republicans very nervous in Washington and has them saying ?I told you so? when asked about the apparent lack of bipartisanship that he has exhibited in the appointment process so far.

A doctrine of unfairness

IN THE buildup to the 2008 presidential and Congressional elections, several prominent Democratic representatives began to whisper about how a sweeping victory would offer an opportunity to reinstitute an ancient relic of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the so-called ?Fairness Doctrine.? If codified into law, the Fairness Doctrine would empower the FCC to silence any news program that it deemed was presenting blatantly biased and unbalanced coverage.

WELCOME back, John McCain. After months of vigorous campaigning, tainted most notably by the unconscionable selection of Sarah Palin as a vice presidential nominee and by a vitriolic series of attack ads on Barack Obama, the real John McCain made a stunning and unexpected reappearance late Tuesday night.

YES, I?M in a fraternity. And yes, that just might be why I don?t know you. Because I came from an all-boys high school with strong ties to the University, I was well versed in what were the ?cool? fraternities on Grounds before I even arrived.

IT IS NO secret that many of the network news programs we watch are cloaked with a bias toward a particular end of the political spectrum.

What

CALL ME cocky, but I have supreme confidence in my capacity to avoid locomotive trains. A specific moment of epiphany does not come to mind but somewhere along the way I ascertained that massive metal objects traveling at forty-five miles an hour should be avoided.
