No benefit to friends-with-benefits

COLLEGE is often referred to as a time for young adults to be wild with few enduring consequences before they must go out into the real world, get jobs, have families and become responsible citizens.

Smaller, fairer discussion sections

Attending a large,public university has its advantages and disadvantages. Students at the University are able to choose from a wide array of courses and majors and take classes from professors who are experts in their fields.

A tax to end traffic woes

The Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area has the third worst traffic of any area in the United States, according to the Texas Transportation Institutes 2002 study.

Excessive, dangerous media coverage of shootings

The recent "serial-sniper" attacks have everyone scared. As students left Grounds for Fall Break, many to return to Northern Virginia, the sniper was just beginning what has accumulated to 11 shootings, nine of which have been fatal.

Extreme, unfair affirmative action

At the University of Michigan, according to their affirmative action policy which uses a "plus-factor" system, in which points are added to application scores in order to give certain applicants advantages, minority applicants receive an overly generous 20-point addition to their application scores based solely on their minority status.

De-stigmatizing virginity

Sex is a hot topic among college students. Since Kelly King's Sept. 10 "Under the Covers" column, there has been a fair amount of talk about sex printed in the opinion section of The Cavalier Daily.

Students' responsibility to vote

It seems like the only thing students have to do is complain; to talk about what is wrong with their lives, other people and society in general.
