It's been real ... sort of

For the past semester, I've had the privilege of being a Cavalier Daily Life columnist. I call it a privilege because not everyone has the chance to write about pretty much whatever they want in the space of 120 lines in one of the most reputable college newspapers in the country with a print circulation of 10,000 and an extensive online readership. The title in my byline is broad indeed, as it implies that I am free to write about ... life.

I didn't plan this

What you're about to read is an experiment, an unprecedented event in the life of "Reality Check." Up to this point, all of the columns that have appeared in this space have been planned out well in advance.

Soul searching

I didn't dress up for Halloween this year. Maybe I was just being a party-pooper, or perhaps the quest to find the perfect costume, which for today's modern woman includes fishnet stockings and a "cute" corset of some kind, seemed like more trouble than it was worth.

Family matters

This weekend, the University will undergo an "invasion of the parents," also known as Family Weekend.

Great expectations?

Reading Days. I don't know about you, but the very idea of Reading Days is a source of great anxiety for me.

They say change is a good thing. As college students, we are faced with some major life changes. Once we leave high school, it suddenly seems like every decision we make could be a life-altering one.

CIOs work with small budgets in new year

After limited financial resources restricted Student Council's allocation of funds to Contracted Independent Organizations last spring, many groups on Grounds are struggling to survive the year on a tight budget. "There was a shortage of money last year," said Eli DeJarnette, Council vice president of student organizations.
