Charlottesville City Council addresses city’s homeless population

The Charlottesville City Council approved on Tuesday two resolutions addressing homelessness in the city, both proposing to allocate money towards helping the homeless population. City funds were pledged to two different programs: $150,000 to Virginia Supportive Housing and $105,000 toward the Spring for Housing program.

Fraternity organizations sign FOA addendum, reservations linger

In an effort to improve current safety procedures, the University is requiring fraternities to sign the new Fraternal Organization Agreement (FOA) addendum by Jan. 16 or face suspension. The addendum comes out of intense scrutiny of the University Greek system following a gang rape accusation -- and later retraction -- by Rolling Stone against the University Phi Kappa Psi chapter.

Donors meet Blue Ridge Scholarship fund challenge grant

Thanks to a donation from Blue Ridge Capital President and Board of Visitors member John Griffin, a 1985 Commerce School graduate, 107 members of the Class of 2018 became recipients of the Blue Ridge Scholarship, a full scholarship for high-achieving, low-income students.

Focus groups gauge sexual misconduct knowledge

Recently, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs created a handful of focus groups to gauge students’ knowledge of the University’s sexual misconduct policy. The groups were part of the University’s broader efforts to combat sexual misconduct.
