In the ACC Pod Play, Virginia went 1-2 against Louisville and 1-1 against Pittsburgh in a three-day span.
The Cavaliers lost the season-opener against Georgia 5-2 and came back swinging against South Alabama — beating the Jaguars 9-4.
Throughout the past decade, the Virginia softball team has struggled. This season, the Cavaliers hope to overcome previous woes and record some wins as they play an ACC-dominated schedule.
The two ACC foes gear up to face off for the second time this season following the postponement of the Oct. 3 matchup due to COVID-19 and injury related issues within the Virginia squad.
NC State has gotten the better of Virginia in recent years as the Cavaliers have failed to beat the Wolfpack in the past four seasons.
Virginia hasn’t played since its loss to Duke Oct. 2 after three straight games were postponed due to COVID-19 issues including positive tests and contact tracing.
