Virginia hits five straight wins with victories against Ohio, JMU

The Virginia wrestling team kept its winning momentum going this weekend, taking matches against Old Dominion University on Friday and over Ohio and James Madison Universities in a dual meet at Memorial Gymnasium on Sunday. The team improves to 10-4 overall and remains 2-0 in the ACC.

Bernstein earns 100th career victory in UNC win

The Virginia wrestling team opened its ACC slate this past weekend, coming away with a 27-10 win over North Carolina Friday night and a 25-15 win over in-state rival Virginia Tech Saturday. "It was good to get them under our belt," 133-pound wrestler Eric Albright said.

Buckeyes roll over Cavaliers in victory at Mem Gym

Virginia wrestler Anthony Burke won the opening 125-pound class match against Ohio State's Nathan Costello, but the Buckeyes won the next seven to beat the Cavaliers 28-10 at Memorial Gymnasium yesterday. Virginia fell to 5-4 on the season.

Virginia takes on traditional power in Mem Gym

The Virginia wrestling team will look to get back on the winning track -- or mat -- this Sunday at noon, when the Cavaliers face Ohio State at Memorial Gymnasium. In their last match at the Virginia Duals on Saturday against North Carolina, Virginia lost a close match, 20-18.

Cavs end season on high note

There was no holiday hangover for Virginia this time around. In 2004, the Cavaliers traveled to Boise, Idaho for the MPC Computers Bowl and lost to Fresno State 37-34 in overtime only three days after Christmas.

Sunshine state frowns on Virginia

MIAMI, Fla. -- Virginia came calling to south Florida Saturday, but thanks to a 25-17 loss at the hands of Miami, south Florida, or anyplace in Florida, likely won't come calling on the Cavaliers with a bowl invite this holiday season. In what turned out to be an evenly-matched contest, Miami (9-2, 6-2 ACC) came through when it needed to behind a stout defense and a sufficient offense, and for the second straight week Virginia lost to a top-10 opponent.
